3D Printing and Same Day Aligners: How it works

So, how does it work?

We make our own in-house clear aligners using 3D printing machines. These printers are located in all three of our offices; printing and creating aligners, retainers, and other orthodontic appliances for our patients. In total, we have SEVEN 3D printers! This means you can get same day aligners in any of our locations: Bowling Green, Glasgow, and Russellville.

3D printers are used in orthodontics to create exact models of your teeth and there are a few steps we use to create aligners from these models for our patients.

1. After your initial consultation with Dr. Lawless, one of our clinical assistants will scan your teeth using our iTero Element Intraoral scanner. This means no more goopy impressions!
2. 2. This scan will then be uploaded and sent directly to our Aligner Specialist Amy. She will use a computer program to move your teeth in a step-by-step plan set by Dr. Lawless.
3. 3. She then prints out 3D models of your teeth for each “step” and molds a special orthodontic plastic over them to create your. “Advantage Aligners!”
4. 4. You can then come by for an afternoon appointment and pick up your new Aligners and start straightening your smile that very same day!
