Fluoride and Orthodontic Treatment!

Fluoride is very important when it comes to orthodontic treatment and can be extremely beneficial during your journey with braces. Here at Lawless Orthodontics, we make sure each patient receives the best possible smile and our team recommends a fluoride treatment every six months. Our in-house fluoride treatments are completely complementary to our patients and very effective.
Lawless Orthodontics utilizes Fluorodose, which is a five percent fluoride varnish. Fluorodose varnish comes in multiple flavors to choose from and is very simple and effortless to apply! Fluoride is often called nature’s cavity fighter and for good reason. This naturally occurring mineral helps prevent cavities in children and adults. Fluoride helps to make the outer surface of your teeth (enamel) more resistant to the acid attacks that cause tooth decay.
After one of our expert team members places the varnish, we ask you to not brush or floss, eat only soft foods, avoid hot beverages and avoid alcohol for four to six hours to obtain maximum benefits of the varnish. After the varnish dries, you will notice a “spotty” appearance that may slide off the teeth. This is completely normal and will not affect product performance. Our Fluoride treatments will go a long way to ensure your smile stays nice and healthy.
